Semaglutide starts working immediately after your first injection. Semaglutide will begin sending messages to your brain that you are full so you should start feeling the appetite suppression within days. Patients can start seeing weight loss between 1-4 weeks. For some patients, weight loss and appetite suppression may be slow in the first few months, but will increase as the medication dose increases. You just have to find the right dose for you!

Nausea is the number one side effect. Everyone is different, but many people only experience nausea within the first 24-48 hours after the injection. Other side effects may include constipation, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, fatigue, dizziness, or headache.

Yes! Begin by removing the cap on the vial and using an alcohol pad to wipe off the top of the vial. Then wipe the area you will be injecting (usually the stomach. You can switch sides of the stomach every week).
Take the syringe and pull down to your dosage. Then insert needle into vial, push the air out, and again pull down to correct dosage. Inject into prepped area and push medication in. Then remove needle and dispose. You are welcome to come to the clinic if you are unsure or need help.

Pay attention to how you feel after each injection. Are you seeing changes in your appetite and weight? If not, you likely require a higher dose. Make sure to follow the instructions on your prescription carefully and if you have any questions or concerns about your dosage please reach out to our nurses.

As you know, the most common side effect of taking semaglutide is nausea. If you would like an anti-nausea medication please reach out to our nurses and they will work with your provider to get a prescription sent in for you. Additionally, our nurses are available to answer questions about other side effects you may be experiencing as well.

You don’t have to stick to a strict diet. While on Semaglutide, you will get fuller, faster so stick to smaller portions so make sure you don’t over eat. Stick to healthy eating – drink water, make sure you’re getting protein, vitamins, etc.

It is a personal choice, with guidance from one of our medical providers. Many people take it long-term because they like how they feel and the results they are getting. Many people, however, will take it for a period of time, lose the weight they desire, then go off of it. It is different for each person.
